1920s Red Brick Cottage Transformed with Modern Flair in Griffith

Renovation

5A Favenc Circle, Griffith, has undergone a dramatic transformation! This charming 1920s/30s redbrick cottage, nestled in the heart of Griffith, ACT, has been reimagined for modern living while retaining its original character.

Client Vision:

The homeowner desired a complete shift in the home’s orientation to maximise northeast light and improve energy efficiency. This forward-thinking approach ensures a comfortable and sustainable living space.

Collaboration & Design:

E & CO’s Elaina partnered with us to achieve a seamless blend of classic period features and modern updates. Original details like ceiling strapping, cornices, and picture rails were preserved, while Moroccan-inspired touches in the wet areas add a touch of exotic flair.

Key Highlights:

  • Light-Filled Kitchen: The kitchen, previously confined to the south corner, has been relocated to the northeast (formerly a bedroom) to bathe the space in natural light. Stunning matte blue cabinets with copper handles add a unique touch to this central hub.
  • Enhanced Flow: A new deck creates a seamless connection between the main bedroom and the relocated kitchen, fostering a more open and inviting layout.
  • Feature Walls: Beautiful wallpaper adorns accent walls throughout the house, adding personality and visual interest.
  • Modern Touches: New lighting and pendants complete the renovation, bringing a touch of contemporary style to the classic space.

The result? A masterpiece that blends heritage charm with modern functionality. This transformed cottage is a testament to the power of thoughtful design and collaboration.

Happy Results, Happy Clients

When I started the renovation project to make my home more energy resilient I was told by a number of people to bulldoze and rebuild. But my house was an old govey with very good “bones”.  So after approaching numerous builders, a couple of architects and internal designers I decided to work with CJC Construction. Chris Clowry and his partner Rhiannon have delivered exactly what I wanted at the right price, on time.

Rhiannon always followed up and resolved issues promptly. Chris communicated regularly with me on what ever was happening and up coming milestones. My internal designer, Elaina Wood, provided such detailed plans and specs that decisions were efficient.

Doing a major renovation is not for the feint hearted but with Chris there were no problems only solutions and often with a better outcome which saved money.

Working with Chris and the CJC team was an absolute pleasure which is why I highly recommend the CJC Construction team.
