We completed a remarkable renovation for clients seeking a modern and functional update to their Canberra government house. Here’s a glimpse into the project’s highlights:
Dream Kitchen Takes Center Stage:

- Hidden Gem: Recognising the challenges of working from home, especially during lockdown, the renovation included a cleverly concealed study/office space, allowing for separation from the kitchen and living areas.
- Crafted with Care: In collaboration with Department of Design, a meticulously designed and detailed joinery was built throughout the home. This included unique features like hand-made cat gates and a captivating feature wall for the hidden study/office.

We had a good feeling. Our first meeting with Chris had just finished. He’d spent two hours with us as we imagined our dream kitchen. His interest, attention to detail and ideation filled us with confidence. This was a major renovation, bringing our cottage into the 21st century and Chris got us, our vision and was excited by the challenges.
Shortly after work started. Chris’s focus on first our quality of living was second to none. He made sure we had a temporary kitchen space, ensured our pets were minimally interrupted and kept us informed everyday. Secondly we could tell from day one his team of carpenters, electricians, plumbers etc were as committed, skilled and focused as Chris was.
We had major engineering works as walls were moved, major electrical work as 50 years of old wiring was replaced and major floor relaying as our dreamy solid Jarrah floor took shape.
As the job progressed our confidence grew as his team turned our dreams, our vision and our plans into reality. His attention to detail, willingness to solve complex joinery issues and ability to innovate was astounding.
As the job concluded, within two days of Chris’s original estimate some 13 weeks earlier we stood back and marvelled at the finish. In addition to on time, Chris’s original estimate was within 2% of the final cost.
We wanted a hi-spec finish, Chris got that from day one. This was our forever home and we had splashed out on appliances. Chris made sure the finish matched. Our hand crafted Jarrah feature walls and floor, precision joinery and stone benches were expertly finished to form a kitchen, dining, lounge and entry that has us saying “Wow!” every time we use the space.
Having strangers in your house everyday for 13 weeks isn’t easy. But Chris made the time fly. He and his team are respectful, helpful, skilled and good fun. In a way we were sad to see the job finish, but everyday we think of Chris and his team and enjoy spaces that bring us joy in so many ways.
